I received my BS degree from Campbell University in Buies Creek, NC with a major in Biology.  Shortly thereafter I began my career in the field of science at Merial Select where I produced veterinary vaccines for poultry.  My work with bacteria and viruses led me to a position as Research Specialist/Lab Manager of a food microbiology research lab in the Department of Food Science at NC State University where I worked for over a decade.  Our research primarily focused on the foodborne pathogens Campylobacter and Listeria and the genetic makeup of strains predominant in farm animals, food processing environments and clinical disease.  I am excited to be a member of the Dept. of Surgery at UNC-Chapel Hill where I will be studying vascular disease and targeted drug delivery.
